Why Halal Status Unknown does not mean Not Halal

4 min read

Amanah treats missing evidence carefully. Halal Status Unknown means the public profile does not have enough support yet, not that the restaurant has failed a halal check.

Unknown is honest

Amanah should not punish a restaurant just because the system has not found reliable evidence yet. Halal Status Unknown means the evidence is missing or weak, not that the place is Not Halal.

This distinction matters because diners need caution without unfairly turning absence of data into a negative claim.

Better evidence can change the profile

Restaurants, certifiers and diners can improve a Halal Status Unknown profile by adding source-attributed evidence. That evidence should be timestamped and reviewed.

The goal is to move from uncertainty to clarity without skipping the evidence trail.
